Certification according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 updated

The Testing Institute Locks and Hardware Velbert [Prüfinstitut Schlösser und Beschläge Velbert (PIV)] has various accreditations and recognitions. It is among other things a recognised inspection and certification body in accordance with the North Rhine-Westphalia State Building Code, a notified testing centre and certification body in compliance with the Construction Products Regulation and an approved testing centre for DIN CERTCO. Now the certificate as a certification body according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 has been extended to include the certification programmes for lockable window handles as well as padlocks and padlock fittings.

The German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) confirms to the Quality Assurance Association Locks and Hardware (Gütegemeinschaft Schlösser und Beschläge e. V.) with the new certificate that the certification body PIV Testing Institute Locks and Hardware Velbert has the competence according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013 to carry out product certifications according to certification programmes of PIV CERT, certification of building products. In the new version the existing accreditation as a certification body for products according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013 was changed. Thus, the new certification programmes for lockable window handles "Z0008: Building hardware for windows and french doors, lockable window handles according to DIN EN 13126-3 - Operating handles, especially for tilt and turn, tilt and turn fittings" as well as padlocks and padlock fittings "Z0013: Construction products for doors and gates according to DIN EN 12320 - Padlocks and padlock fittings according to DIN EN 16864 - Mechatronic padlocks requirements and test methods according to DIN EN 16864" are included. In addition, the limitation of the accreditation was cancelled.

Burglar resistant retrofit products
The Commission for Crime Prevention (KPK) regularly publishes lists of tested and certified burglar resistant products. This enables consumers to get an overview. For companies that have already been awarded the RAL quality mark by the Quality Assurance Association Locks and Hardware (Gütegemeinschaft Schlösser und Beschläge e. V.), the PIV's Z0008 certification programme is particularly important in order to get on the KPK lists.
